Dear Parents/Guardians and students of Bayshore P.S.

It is a great honor to be Bayshore Public School's newest principal.  I am excited and look forward to working with students, parents, staff and the community.  When Mr. Gervais took me for my first tour of Bayshore P.S. to meet the students and staff, I was thrilled that I would soon become part of such an amazing school.  It was immediately evident that all teachers and support staff work together to ensure that all students are engaged in rich and varied educational experiences within a supportive learning community.  The students were all welcoming with big smiles on their faces!  Now that I am here, and spending time with staff, students and parents, I am seeing all of this on a daily basis!

Thank you to the parents that came out this week to the "Coffee with the New Principal".  I look forward to having more of these gatherings as the year progresses.

A reminder that Kindergarten Information Night is Wednesday, January 21st from 5:30 - 6:30.  Registration starts on Monday, January 26, 2015.

My door is always open if you have any questions or concerns.  Please feel free to contact me at any time.

Monica Garvie

Reminder:  Friday, January 16, 2015 is a PD day.  There is no school for students.  School starts again on Monday, January 19, 2015.

I’ve had the pleasure to work at Bayshore P.S. as both a Vice-Principal and Principal for almost  6 years now.  Bayshore P.S.  is an amazing school with great children, very supportive parents and a very talented and dedicated staff.  I am writing to you today to inform you that I will be leaving the Bayshore community and moving to another school, Katimavik Elementary School, beginning on January 5, 2015. Katimavik E.S. is a grade 4-8 school in Kanata in a neighbourhood where I grew up as a child so I am excited to be returning to this part of the city.

I would like to welcome Mrs. Monica Garvie as the new Principal of Bayshore P.S. Mrs. Garvie is currently the Principal at Farley Mowat Public School in Barrhaven. I have recently met with Mrs. Garvie and she is very excited to be the new Principal of Bayshore. Next week, Mrs. Garvie will be visiting the school and meeting with Mrs. Jackson and me so that we can share with her all of the great things happening at the school and to ensure that there is a smooth transition.

Bayshore P.S. has been a great place to work and I am going to miss the students, staff and parents in the Bayshore community.  I wish you all of the best in the future.

Jeff Gervais

Bayshore P.S. School Council

Who we are and what we are all about
School Council is a group of parents who meet regularly (once a month) along with teacher representatives, and the principal and vice principal to discuss matters affecting our children's education. The members of school council are also (co-) chairing several different committees. The purpose of those committees are manifold, such as to organise fun or educational events for our children, to make this school a safer place, or to reach out to the school community.

If you are interested and want to learn more about what is going on at your child's school, we warmly invite you to get involved! - Either by attending the next school council meeting or by volunteering on one of the school council committees! We always welcome a helping hand!
To get involved and/or provide your feedback, please send an email to
parents@bayshoreps.ca, or leave a message in our new suggestion box located just outside the School Council office.
